Ceisteanna (99)

Emer Currie

Ceist:

99. Deputy Emer Currie asked the Minister for Education and Youth further to Parliamentary Question No. 142 of 20 May 2026, the property management division’s reasoning behind retaining this land (details supplied) for future educational provision considering a high-pressure gas pipe runs directly under the land in question; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I refer to your representation on behalf of Castleknock Tennis Club and Castleknock Educate Together National School in relation to the shared use of recreational land.

My department's Planning and Building Unit have determined that this land should be retained for potential future education expansion as the area where the school is located is an area of ongoing development and significant special education needs.

My department notes the correspondence received in relation to the High-Pressure Gas Main, however my department is aware of the position of this gas main and this does not effect the necessity to retain the land in question to address any potential demographic or special education pressures in the future.
