Enterprise Ireland’s strategy Delivering for Ireland, Leading Globally (2025-2029) sets a target to increase jobs in companies supported by Enterprise Ireland to 275,000 by 2029, with two thirds of jobs created to be outside of Dublin. This target represents an increase of approximately 40,500 over the five -year period.
There were 232,425 people employed in Enterprise Ireland–supported companies at end-2025, with 69% of new jobs created outside Dublin. Enterprise Ireland does not set individual county or municipal district level job creation targets.
IDA Ireland does not set county or municipal level job creation targets. As part of its Adapt Intelligently strategy for 205-2029, IDA set a target to secure 1,000 FDI projects, of which 550 are regional investments, which will lead to creation of an additional 75,000 jobs.
The Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs) report to the Department annually on the number of persons employed and net jobs gains at county and regional level. These statistics apply to small businesses supported by the LEOs that were in receipt of grant funding in the previous year.
My department provides an overall target of 3,500 as the total net number of jobs created in LEO supported companies at a national level each year. County level targets are set based on the local authority banding structure, with county level targets ranging from 91 to 175 net new jobs.
