The Payroll Division of my department provides a payroll service to over 3,700 schools. At the end of April 2026 there were 688 primary school teachers that were in receipt of the Diploma in Special Education allowance. This breakdown of this information by county is not readily available. The department does not hold record on teachers who are currently teaching and hold the special education teacher diploma qualification but are not in receipt of the special education diploma allowance.
