For low throughput food businesses, which would have formerly fallen under local authority supervision, there were 20 approval inspections carried out in 2025 by my Department.

My Department does not collate data by local authority area, but by county those inspections were carried out as follows: 6 in County Louth, 3 each in Counties Dublin and Kildare, 2 each in Counties Kerry, Cork and Wexford and 1 each in Counties Meath and Tipperary.

My Department granted 17 conditional approvals and 18 full approvals in 2025, some of these approvals were granted on foot of inspections carried out in 2024.

No Food Businesses failed an approval inspection and 1 application was withdrawn in 2025.
