96. Deputy Seán Ó Fearghaíl asked the Minister for Education and Youth the way in which fair pension entitlement is being ensured for ETB adult education tutors, given pensions are based only on contract hours; to assess the impact of non-pensionable work on long-serving staff; the steps she will take to improve access to full-time hours for tutors on CID contracts; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Pension benefits for tutors and Adult Educators are based on the rules of the relevant pension scheme with due regard to their contract of employment.

Each of the Education and Training Boards (ETB) are independent employers with responsibility for staffing matters. Therefore, decisions which pertain to employment, in line with available budget, and relevant legislation including CIDs are a matter for the employing ETB.
