Deputy John Connolly asked the Minister for Education and Youth the number of retired staff with pension entitlement within her Department who have seen their pension subjected to pension abatement following re-entering employment in the public sector; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe Department of Education and Youth currently has 4 retired staff who are subjected to pension abatement following re-entry into the public sector. Pension abatement is applied in accordance with the relevant public service pension provisions. The Department recognises the skills and experiences these staff bring to the Department.
