Dáil Éireann Debate, Thursday - 11 June 2026
215. Deputy Aidan Farrelly asked the Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport the level of financial investment expected to be incurred by his Department to support a sporting event (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [44737/26]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe event referred to by the Deputy is, in the first instance, a commercial venture between the promoters and Croke Park Management. While I am aware from media reports that the event has now been confirmed to take place on 5 September this year my Department was not involved in the discussions and is not providing any direct financial support.
Katie Taylor is an exceptional athlete and an outstanding ambassador for Irish sport. I am delighted that she has realised her ambition to fight in Croke Park and I wish all those involved in the September event every success.
