The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is an independent public body established under the Environmental Protection Agency Act, 1992, and is entirely independent in the exercise of its functions.

While the recruitment of staff by the EPA is subject to sanction from me as Minister as well as the Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, the allocation of approved staff is a matter for the EPA. The Agency currently has received sanction to recruit up to 550 staff.

The information requested is an operational matter for the Agency and as such the Deputy may wish to contact the Agency directly.

The EPA can be contacted directly using oireachtasqueries@epa.ie for Oireachtas members.
