The North South Interconnector is a critical piece of infrastructure for the State, further enhancing links with Northern Ireland and strengthening both of our electricity grids. This project, once delivered, will bring energy security, energy affordability and energy sustainability benefit to electricity customers throughout the Island. EirGrid, ESB and the Government are fully committed to the delivery of this project, and seeing construction start this year in line with the project programme.

The North South Interconnector is a Transmission project and is being undertaken by EirGrid, as Transmission System Operator. EirGrid is a commercial State body and is independent of the Minister in the exercise of its functions. Queries on updates on the project are first and foremost a matter for EirGrid.

EirGrid have a contact email address (oireachtas@eirgrid.com) through which Deputies can seek updates on detailed elements of the project.
