368. Deputy Donna McGettigan asked the Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation to consider installing sun cream dispensers in OPW parks as piloted by the Irish Cancer Society and Cork County Council last summer. [45290/26]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Office of Public Works (OPW) acknowledges the pilot scheme recently undertaken in Cork and fully appreciates the importance of sun safety. To date, OPW has not formally considered the widespread installation of sun cream dispensers across its parks. Consequently, no costings have been developed for such an initiative.
The OPW remains interested in the findings of last summer's pilot scheme particularly in relation to the assessment of its effectiveness. The OPW will continue to promote public health guidance regarding skin protection by actively supporting the national SunSmart campaign, which is run annually by the Department of Health and the HSE.
