The 2025 Social Housing Second Hand Acquisitions Programme funded acquisitions to support:

• exits from homeless services;

• persons with a disability, older persons and care leavers requiring urgent housing responses;

• tenancy sustainment – tenant in situ (TiS); and

• Buy and Renew acquisitions tackling vacancy.

Some €289 million was drawn down by local authorities last year under the Programme from an available budget of €375 million. This included the funding for purchase costs (excluding fees and refurbishment costs) for 773 homes, an average of €299,000 per home.
