The Programme for Government sets out a commitment to explore the introduction of a targeted child benefit payment, and to introduce a working age payment. In line with this commitment on May 5th my Department launched a public consultation on a potential new targeted child payment and working age payment. The consultation process concluded on June 12th.

As of close of business on June 12th, my Department had received 191 submissions.

My Officials will review and analyse all submissions. These are complex reforms, and it will take time to consider the input from the consultation process, and to progress more detailed design. Proposals will be brought to Government in due course.

I trust this clarify the matter for the Deputy.
