Ceisteanna (147)

Brian Brennan

Ceist:

147. Deputy Brian Brennan asked the Minister for Transport the level of oversight his Department has on delivery of subsidised bus services to ensure that the State is getting value-for-money and taxpayers are in receipt of a bus service that is fit-for-purpose, specifically in relation to the number 2 Expressway bus service from Wexford to Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport; however, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport.

Further, Bus Éireann's Expressway services, including route 2, are commercial bus services and responsibility for the operation of the services is a matter for the company. I have, therefore, referred the Deputy's question to Bus Éireann for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within ten working days.

A referred reply was forwarded to the Deputy under Standing Orders.
