496. Deputy Eoin Ó Broin asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage the number of developers who have applied to provide water and wastewater infrastructure under the November 2025 DPI initiative. [49443/26]

It is assumed that the Question is referring to the Developer-Led Wastewater Infrastructure (DLI) initiative approved by Government in March 2026.

This initiative supports housing delivery in areas where wastewater constraints are impacting development by enabling developers, subject to agreement with Uisce Éireann, to finance and construct wastewater infrastructure to Uisce Éireann standards. On completion, the infrastructure is transferred to Uisce Éireann ownership for their operation and maintenance.

Uisce Éireann has established a dedicated team to manage developer engagement through a structured pre-connection process and ongoing technical engagement on proposed developments.

As at the end of May 2026, seven developer enquiries had been received, reflecting the initial engagement process under the initiative.

The DLI initiative is intended to support housing delivery by addressing wastewater constraints, particularly in towns and villages, while complementing Uisce Éireann’s ongoing investment programme.
