The Circular Economy Innovation Grant Scheme (CEIGS) is funded from the Circular Economy Fund and was first launched in 2021. This multi-annual scheme directly supports the growth of the circular economy in Ireland and provides high-profile examples of best practice to inspire others. A key objective is delivering innovative projects that will have a direct impact on operating environments, and which can act as demonstrators for others. Since the launch of the scheme funding has been awarded to 50 projects across the following thematic areas:

• Plastics;

• Construction & demolition waste;

• Food waste prevention;

• Resources & raw materials (electrical and electronic equipment, textiles, furniture)

Annual allocation for CEIGS projects:

• 2021 – Total fund allocated - €490,000 over 10 projects

• 2022/23 – Total fund allocated - €650,000 over 13 projects

• 2024 – Total fund allocated - €650,000 over 13 projects

• 2025 – Total fund allocated - €650,000 over 14 projects

In line with the ‘Whole of Government Circular Economy Strategy 2026-2028 Accelerating Action’, increased CEIGS funding to €1.5 million for 2026 will be announced in the coming months. This funding will further support the growth of the circular economy in Ireland, providing extra high-profile examples of best practice.

Further details on CEIGS funding, and the amounts drawn down each year are detailed in the table below.
