Ceisteanna (381)

Michael Cahill

Ceist:

381. Deputy Michael Cahill asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the reason a person (details supplied) has not yet received their 2024 national protein incentive scheme (NPIS) payment; the reason for the continued delay arising from the reported technical issue involving the migration of inspection details from AgInspect to his Department’s claims system; when this issue is expected to be resolved; when payment will issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Non-Productive Investments (NPIs) are provided for within the Agri-Climate Rural Environment Scheme or "ACRES".

I can confirm that payments in respect of the implementation of NPIs are ongoing, with almost €8.48 million issuing amongst 3,489 farmers to date.

A payment claim for the 2023 annual work year was lodged in respect of this herd and has now issued. A separate claim in respect of the 2024 annual work year was also submitted. The required functionality in relation to cases where an NPI inspection has taken place is under development and is expected to be ready to be deployed in the near future. My Department is in regular contact with the person named to keep them updated on these developments.
