The Garda Commissioner is responsible for the management and administration of An Garda Síochána under section 33 of the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024, which includes all operational policing matters.

The total value of cash seizures made by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau in each of the years 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, are contained in the Garda Annual Reports which can be found at the following link: www.garda.ie/en/about-us/publications/annual%20reports/an-garda-siochana-annual-reports/.

The Garda Annual Report for 2025 will be published in due course.

The Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau was established in 2015, and comes under the executive control of Assistant Commissioner, Organised & Serious Crime following the amalgamation of the Garda National Drugs Unit and the Organised Crime Unit (GNDOCB).

The GNDOCB role is to proactively, via intelligence led investigations, disrupt, dismantle and prosecute those persons engaged in top tier organised crime groups, primarily involved in murder, drug/firearms trafficking, armed robberies and associated money laundering.
