The Government is committed to improving cancer care, ensuring better prevention, maintaining improvements in cancer survival rates, and timely access to treatments. Since the beginning of the current National Cancer Strategy in 2017, the Government has allocated €105 million to support cancer services and improve outcomes for patients.

The National Cancer Registry of Ireland collects, analyses, and disseminates comprehensive information on cancer in Ireland. This information is typically made available 2 to 3 years after the year of incidence, which is standard among population-based cancer registries internationally. The National Cancer Registry of Ireland's website provides specific cancer case numbers, annual reports, and survival trends across the Irish population, and is available at [www.ncri.ie].

The table below outlines the number of people diagnosed with specific cancer types, as requested by the Deputy up to 2023, which is the most recent complete incidence data available.
