Deputy Pádraig Rice asked the Minister for Transport the number of diverted flights into Shannon Airport, Cork Airport and Dublin Airport in 2023, 2024 and 2025, in tabular form; the number of medical and technical diversions; the manner in which they are categorised; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraAircraft may by diverted from their intended destination airports for a number of reasons, including due to medical, weather and technical reasons.
The data sought by the Deputy is not collated by my Department or by AirNav Ireland, which provides air navigation services in Irish-controlled airspace. I am advised that the data cannot be readily extracted from AirNav Ireland's systems, and that manual compilation of the information sought would require an unduly onerous amount of staff resources and time given the lack of any clear objective in compiling this information.
