355. Deputy John Clendennen asked the Minister for Education and Youth for an update on the additional school accommodation project for a school (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. [53683/26]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe school to which the Deputy refers has been sanctioned to open a special class for 2026/2027 by the National Council for Special Education (NCSE). I am pleased to advise that the start-up grant payment of €30,000 has been processed by the Department.
Under the SEN Repurposing Scheme additional funding for small scale repurposing works up to a maximum of €80,000 per class is also available to schools on an application basis.
The school submitted an application on 16 June 2026. This is currently being reviewed by our Professional and Technical Team. Department officials will be in contact with the school authority directly once this review has been completed and will advise the school authority on how to progress this project.
My department will continue to assist the school throughout this process with any queries they may have.
