The school to which the Deputy refers was approved for inclusion in my Department’s school building programme for a project under the Additional School Accommodation Scheme. The project provides for one general classroom, one music room, one textiles room, one art room, one graphics room, two multimedia rooms, one science laboratory, one science preparation area, two technology rooms with shared preparation area and a three-classroom special educational needs base. Responsibility for delivery of the project is devolved to the school authority.
I can confirm that the Stage 2a (developed design) report was submitted to my department and departmental officials have actively engaged with the school authority as part of the review process. The stage report remains under review. All projects, including this one, will undergo the necessary due diligence outlined in the Infrastructure Guidelines. Given the detailed nature of the evaluation process, the need to ensure full cost compliance, and the requirement to align the project with the prioritisation framework under the National Development Plan, this review process is necessarily thorough. Managing timing, scope, and cost is crucial to staying within budgetary limits for the overall programme.
The current status of all ASA projects is listed on a county by county basis at www.gov.ie/en/department-of-education/services/additional-accommodation-scheme/. This is updated on a regular basis to reflect project progress through the various stages of capital appraisal, site acquisition, design, planning, tender and construction.
