Ceisteanna (3147)

Paul Donnelly

Ceist:

3147. Deputy Paul Donnelly asked the Minister for Health the reason people with dementia are not routinely assessed for disability services based on their functional need given that the HSE recognises dementia is not a normal part of ageing; and if she will commit to ensuring that access to supports is determined by need rather than diagnosis. As this is a service matter I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond directly to the Deputy as soon as possible.
