Ceisteanna (425)

Paul Lawless

Ceist:

425. Deputy Paul Lawless asked the Minister for Transport if, following the recent renewal of the NDLS contract with a company for a further three-year period, he will provide clarity regarding the long term employment security of staff working in NDLS centres nationwide; if he will confirm whether TUPE protections apply in the event that a different service provider is awarded the contract in the future; and the safeguards in place to protect the employment rights, continuity of service, and terms and conditions of existing NDLS staff (details supplied). Under the Road Safety Authority Act 2006, the Road Safety Authority (RSA) has statutory responsibility for the National Driver Licencing Service, including all operational and contractual matters.

I have therefore referred the Deputy's question to the RSA for direct reply. I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response has not been received within ten days.
