Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union is an important opportunity for Ireland to shape Europe’s policy direction, lead important aspects of the EU’s work, and showcase Ireland’s engagement, expertise and values at the heart of the European Union.
The Government has committed in the Programme for Government to resourcing and delivering a successful Presidency. This engagement includes the facilitation of a number of events to complement the Presidency programme and enhance the debate on key policy priorities for Ireland, such as the promotion of quality jobs and European competitiveness.
My Department is collaborating with the European Commission on the development and delivery of a High-Level Conference on the Future of Work. This event will take place on the 1st of December in Dublin and will engage stakeholders from across the world of work, including the political system, the EU institutions, employers and workers.
My Department has set in place a budget allocation of €72,000 for this event, with co-funding also requested from the European Commission. This figure is based on estimated costs and remains subject to change pending the final confirmation of the programme.
Every effort is being made to manage the financial requirements for this event and steps taken to ensure costs are being well managed and that value for money is secured.
