Amharc ar fhreagraThe school referred to by the Deputy was approved to enter my Department's pipeline of school buildings under the Additional School Accommodation scheme for a project providing one mainstream classroom, two special education tuition rooms and a two-classroom special educational needs (SEN) base. The project is devolved to the school authority for delivery.
A Stage 1 addendum design report was submitted to my department in Q1 2026 and is currently under review. All projects, including this one, will undergo the necessary due diligence outlined in the Infrastructure Guidelines. Given the detailed nature of the evaluation process, the need to ensure full cost compliance, and the requirement to align the project with the prioritisation framework under the National Development Plan, this review process is necessarily thorough
The project includes a two-classroom SEN base which incorporates a Daily Living Skills room. This type of accommodation includes a kitchenette to support the delivery of programmes focused on independent living, practical skills development and preparation for everyday activities.
