The Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) provides funding under several measures for the development of new outdoor recreational infrastructure and for the necessary repair, enhancement or promotion of existing outdoor recreation infrastructure in countryside areas across Ireland. This includes walking trails, cycleways, mountain access routes and facilities at rivers, lakes and beaches.

My department continues to provide substantial investment in outdoor recreation across Ireland, including in County Tipperary. Since 2022, over €3 million has been allocated to Tipperary County Council to support the delivery of 30 projects.

Applications are now open for the 2026/2027 Outdoor Recreation & Infrastructure Scheme under measures 2 and 3, which refer to projects with funding of up to €200,000 and €500,000 respectively. The deadline for applications for smaller projects under measure 1 and the project development measure has now passed and my officials are reviewing these applications.

The attached table outlines the total funding allocated to Tipperary County Council in each of the years 2022 to 2025. There has been no funding announced to date in 2026.
