The Office of Public Works (OPW) is working to ensure the older children's playground in the People's Gardens can re-open as soon as possible.

The closure was necessary for health and safety reasons, due to a collapsed culvert beneath the playground. The cause of the collapse has now been fully investigated and the OPW will publish tender documents for the necessary works in the coming days. It is anticipated that a Contractor will be appointed by mid-December, with works to commence in January.

While it is not possible to give a definitive timescale for completion at this time, every effort is being made to reopen the playground as soon as possible.
