The following telephone facilities may be provided in each Deputy’s room at Leinster House.
Telephone facility
Telephone facilities are provided, with a primary published extension number with two lines and a secondary ex-directory extension line. Both of these numbers can be dialled directly from outside Leinster House or from any other internal extension. Members are advised to publish only one extension number.
Where a Member's administrative assistant or parliamentary assistant is based at Leinster House, a separate phone extension is also provided.
Voicemail
Voicemail is automatically provided. Members are advised to record a greeting on their voice mailbox as soon as possible. The voicemail system can be programmed to allow Members to receive an email notification each time a voicemail is left, which can include call details and the voice message itself as a voice clip.
External forwarding of inbound telephone calls
Members’ primary public extension lines can be programmed in order to provide an external forwarding facility. Members requiring this service should send a written request specifying the extension number to be forwarded, and the external destination number, including the area code, to Telecoms section, ICT unit, Leinster House or e-mail their request .
When the service has been configured on the phone system, the Member will be contacted to explain how the service is activated. In order to facilitate this contact, Members are requested to include their mobile phone number in the request.
Speed dialling
Speed dialling can be programmed with multiple speed dial numbers.
