144 Mr. Enright asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the need for additional accommodation at Errill national school, Errill, County Laois; if she will outline the present position on the provision of a permanent extension to this school; when it is expected that work will commence on this extension; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
I have approved a permanent extension to Errill national school County Laois, which will contain one classroom, a staff room, a library/medical room and various stores. The architectural planning for the project is in hand and a sketch plan will be completed at the earliest possible date and then be sent to the school authorities to enable them to seek local authority planning permission. As there are a number of factors outside the control of my Department in relation to planning, tendering and contractual procedures in cases like this I am not in a position, at this stage, to say when building works will commence.
