296. Deputy Eoghan Kenny asked the Minister for Defence if her Department, and agencies under the Department’s remit, purchase data on the habits and activities of social media users and other platforms; if so, the reasons for purchasing such data; the amount spent in 2024 and 2025 year to date on such expenditure, in tabular form; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I can confirm that neither my Department nor any of the bodies under the aegis of my Department purchased data on the habits and activities of social media users and other platforms during the years 2024 and 2025.

I am further advised that the Defence Forces did not purchase any such data during the same period.
