Work commenced in 2025 on a project to establish a new statutory National Security Authority (NSA) under the aegis of my Department.

The first phase of the project, which is on-going, is focused on developing a comprehensive action plan and costings, for design, establishment, and operationalisation of the NSA on a legislative footing, to submit to the Government for approval.

Research and engagement with government departments and bodies, and other countries’ National Security Authorities is on-going to support the design of the NSA.

A Project Governance board comprising senior representatives from a number of departments and bodies, and chaired by my Secretary General has been established, to provide input and guidance on the strategic direction of the project.

Question No. 1774 answered with Question No. 1608.
