276. Deputy Seán Ó Fearghaíl asked the Minister for Defence her views on a request for a tenant purchase of a house owned by her Department (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15009/26]
Amharc ar fhreagraWith regard to the specific property referred to by the Deputy, officials in my Department have been engaged with the occupant on this matter. An offer of licence was made to the occupant in 2021 to regularise their situation, but this was not accepted. Another offer of licence was made in November 2022 which also was not accepted. The offer of a licence remains open. As the Deputy may know, it is best practice that any sale of such a state asset must be via public auction unless a derogation is received from the Department of Public Expenditure.
