Deputy Mairéad Farrell asked the Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment if his Departmental officials issued any Section 14 Authorisations under the Fisheries (Consolidation) Act 1959 for Catchment-Wide Electrofishing (CWEF) surveys in 2026; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraNo specific Section 14 authorisations for Catchment-Wide Electrofishing (CWEF) surveys have been issued by the Department in 2026 to date.
Section 14 authorisations are issued to Research Officers in Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) to facilitate research activities, which may include CWEF. I am advised that 4 such authorisations have issued to date in 2026.
