317. Deputy Ken O'Flynn asked the Minister for Transport the average length of time currently required to process a change of vehicle ownership; and if he will provide a breakdown of processing times over the past 12 months. [45658/26]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs Minister of State for International & Road Transport, Logistics, Rail & Ports, I wish to advise that the average processing time for offline change of ownership during the January – May 2026 period was 8 calendar days.
We do not have a breakdown of the average times to process for the full 12-month period.
I wish to advise that my department provides a secure online system for processing change of ownership at www.vehicleservices.gov.ie. The change of ownership is updated immediately, and the new Vehicle Registration Certificate (VRC) is posted to the buyer on the next working day.
