The Town and Village Renewal Scheme (TVRS) was introduced in 2016 and is one of a number of measures designed to rejuvenate rural towns and villages throughout Ireland. This scheme places particular emphasis on projects which support sustainable employment creation, town centre resilience and regeneration, enhance streetscapes, and bringing derelict and vacant buildings and sites back into use as multi-purpose community spaces. Since the launch of the scheme over €217 million has been allocated to almost 2,000 projects across the country.

A Town and Village Renewal Scheme (TVRS) Call for Proposals was launched on Wednesday 16 September 2026. There are two funding streams available under this Call: The Main Scheme and the Project Development Measure and further details are available on my department's website. The closing date for the submission of applications is 22 January 2027.

The 2025 and 2026 budget allocation for the Town and Village Renewal Scheme is set out in the following table.
